Red-Cell Rosette Formation in Malaria

A 57-year-old woman with a recent history of malaria presented with fatigue, anorexia, and fever. Peripheral-blood smear showed red cells containing malaria forms surrounded by uninfected erythrocytes in a rosette formation.
